Overview

Most task software is optimised for capture. It is very good at helping somebody accumulate three hundred open items and very poor at helping them decide what to do between now and lunch. Manera Focus takes the opposite position: the unit of planning is one day, and a day has edges.

The application is local-first. A person’s plan lives on their device, works with no network connection, and synchronises through their own platform account rather than through a NEOMANERA-operated database of everyone’s tasks. That decision constrains the product — it rules out certain collaboration features — and we consider the trade worthwhile.

Manera Focus exists in the catalogue alongside Manera Connect deliberately. The two products share almost nothing in subject matter and almost everything in engineering practice, which is the point: NEOMANERA is a software company, not a single-category company.

What it does

Designed around a small number of decisions

  • One day at a time

A plan is bounded by the hours actually available, so committing to an eleventh task requires removing one — the arithmetic is visible rather than implied.

  • Local-first storage

Data is written to the device first and remains fully usable offline. There is no NEOMANERA server holding a copy of a person’s plan.

  • Private sync through your own account

Synchronisation between a person’s devices runs through their platform account, so the encryption keys and the storage quota are theirs.

  • Honest review, not gamification

The end-of-day view reports what happened without streaks, confetti or shame mechanics engineered to manufacture engagement.

  • Keyboard-complete on desktop

Every action has a keyboard path on macOS. Planning tools are used at speed or they are not used at all.

  • Export whenever you want

A person’s plans export to open, documented formats on demand. Leaving is a supported operation, not a support ticket.

Commitments

What Manera Focus will not do

Stating the boundaries is more useful than listing features. These are commitments, not aspirations, and they apply from the first release onwards.

  • No advertising, and no analytics software that follows a person between applications.
  • No engagement mechanics designed to make putting the application down feel like a loss.
  • No feature that requires uploading a person’s plan to NEOMANERA infrastructure.
  • No lock-in: data export is available from the first release.
